April 17
MY mentor finally came back. But i did not have something new to do though. I made lables again. And my mentor went back to the new gallery at 4pm. I think there would be an oppenning party or something, i don't even know. liam is one of the co-woker. He usually gave me works when Yvonne is not here, but after i was done with the lables, I just sat there and stared at the celling, because he was so busy around to help some customers. Then another new interns came. He introduced himself to me. He was a college student. After that we both stay quiet and wait for liam. when liam finally had freetime, he just asked me to go home, so i did and the day was end.
April 16
My Mentor was not here again. She was so busy for the other space. I don't like that, when she was gone, i don't have so much to do. And because there was another interns there, I feel they don't need me, so I really don't want to stay here doing nothing. Then they made me do the lables for those new photos, which was the job I did not like, because the printer was so far away from my computer, and I need to stuck the lable into the machine in order to print, so I always need to get up and walk back and get up and back again and again, it made me so tired.
April 15
There will be another new silverstein photography open in 3 blocks away from the one that i work in right now. My mentor was there for the whole day. I delivered an art piece from the old gallery to the new one, so i had a chance to see how the new space looked like. It was really kool and bigger. Then i went back and because my mentor was not here and they didn't have much for me to do, they told me to go home. I was so happy, it was only 3:30pm.

Midpoint reflection questions
How has the internship been the same as and/or different than your expectations?
My internship was different from my expectation because i am actually doing more computer works and work a lot with the art system. At the beginning, i expected to do more with photographs.
What is similar and different about the culture of the school environment versus the workplace environment? What new skills have you learned that apply to the workplace?
It is very different. My workplace is quiet, peaceful, clear and artistic and everbody look pretty XD and they all speak english. But my school is kind of wild and disorder sometimes.
What kind of relationship do you have with your mentor and co-workers? How have you grown as a result of interacting with professional adults?
I have a good relationship with my mentor and co-workers.
What challenges at the internship have you faced that you have overcome and how did you overcome them?
I don't really have challenges at the internship. But sometimes to work with the art system can be tricky, so i need to pay attention to it.
What challenges have you faced in school as a result of the altered schedule and how are you handling them?
I don't know how to handing them that's why i failed the blog. But i'll start to be more organized and set a schedule for myself.
What goals are you working to accomplish during the remainder of the internship?
To make up the missing things of the blog.
What new things have you learned about New York City?
NYC is so lovely.I love NY.

Third Week Assignment
Describe one significant activity or project that you have completed or are working on currently.
Time flies, the third week of internship was already end!! Another week is coming! i need a good rest! :)
Well, as i wrote in the past few entries, I worked with the 'smartbook' program in the Apple computer to make a catalog. So far, I compiled two books already, they all looked fabulous :]
The first book I worked on was for an artist called Roslind Solomon, she just had an exhibiton now until April. The second book was for Barbara Morgan, a photographer that had an exhibition in the gallery two years ago.
To make a catalog was not really hard, but you need to be careful about the details, to make a mistake was really easy and you don't even notice. The first page of the catalog was a press release, which was the information about the book, then the biography about the artist came next. These two things were easy to do, it could always find in the server, i just need to copy and paste. The next thing was to import photos and choose the appropriate layout for each page of the book, it could goes werid, so I usually spent a long time to do it and make sure there were no mistakes. After I drag all the images, the book was almost finish. The last thing to do was the List of Plates, It was a list of information on the back of the book that included the titled, year and sized of each images. Then I can order the book online and done :)
The third week was not a fresh week, as I wrote above, I just made a book and it was the second book i made. I still like it a lot because compare to the first book while my mentor help me with everything, this time i done it all alone and tried to solve problems by myslef first instead of ask my mentor immediately. However, this week was a good week for me but also tired. Hopefully the next week would goes well too:)

March 4,08
The second week of internship started!!
today, i learned how to make a catalog.
it was fun but really really tired and triky.
The new exhibition was called INSIDE OUT,
It started on March 3 and ends at April,
so the book that i made today was for the artist of this show.
Many people came visited the gallery today even though it was rainy outside.
i worked on the computer for almost 4 hours.
then i finished the whole book at 5:30,
there were totally 120something pages of the book.
I felt good to type " Compiled by Katrina Li" at the end:]
